As I read your last note, something struck me as strange. So I got out my Haynes and SAAB electrical diagrams. You reported that the reversing lights stayed on when you removed the ignition key - right? As the car is parked in reverse (SAAB design feature) the switch on the transmission must be in the closed position when you are parked, just as it is closed when you back up. So the fault may not be the switch on the transmission. Rather, it seems to me that the ignition switch relay may have been at fault. If the relay sticks closed, then the reversing lights would stay on. Maybe the moisture in the thunderstorm cured a ground connection fault. Would a SAAB expert comment please?
