Use white lithium grease.
Lub the petal pivot, the cable that is exposed, and the part of the cable that hooks onto the petal. I did this 5 years ago, quiet since. Mine was more of a creak that a squeak!
The panel comes out with about 10 fasteners. In the back left corner there is a big plastic rivet. Everything is black and it is hard to see. But there is a flush spot in the middle of this rivet, perhaps 2-3mm diameter. Push this in with a blunt pin or wire, and it will come out.
