Heated Seat Temperature

I am slowing go through my 97 900 S and trying to bring her up to showroom condition. I noticed that the heated seats get warm but not hot. I have seen some posts about broken wires. However, since the seats do get warm I have continuity. Is there a way to turn up the thermostate? My second question is how hot are they supposed to get? Before I rip the seat out, I figured I should get some opinions. I have seen some posts talk about the fact that they get hot enough in 10 minutes that they have to turn the heater off. Is this a reasonable expectation for a 97 900S?
