Mushy Brakes - Brake Fluid??

I have a 98 900SET that I have had for one year and 20K miles (now has 60K on the dial). The brakes to me have always been mushy, I have bled them, and so has the dealer who says the brakes are fine. To me they are mushy and often require a double pump to get the confident stop. My wifes 95 900S conv stops great and has very good modulation and pedal feel. I have replaced the fluid per the maintenance schedule with no problems. I know the 98 has bigger disks and calipers but you would never think it after driving the 95 900.
On the 98 I was thinking of changing the fluid with synthetic, maybe the Castrol brand. Has anyone had a similar problem with their 98? Has anyone switched to synthetic? There is plenty of meat left on the pads.
Reply's would be most welcome
