Update on dead engine

My mechanic has confirmed that the engine "blew a rod". He said that a rod had gone thru the oil pan. However, I never noticed any oil leaking from the engine after I pulled over on the Interstate. Nor did I see any oil splattered when I opened up the hood.
Bottom line is that I can have the engine rebuilt which will take several weeks OR I can get a used motor for $2000 and pay another $2000 in labor.
I still have 2 years on my loan and my loan balance is more than the current value of the car when in good condition. The dealer did a good selling job to me about the car. Two weeks after I purchased the car, the turbo went out. Thankfully this was done under warranty where not only was the turbo replaced but also a new fan, thermosatat and a few hoses and belts. So the history in the car has not been that good.
I am going to contact the dealer and see what and IF they will do anything for me. I know I am out of warranty by 21000 miles but this should not happen. Hopefully I will the dealer will do something. I will keep you all posted. Wish me luck.
