Nervous about another Saab...

I've owned two wonderful Saabs, (86 900S, 87 9000.) Now I am prepared to spend up to $20K on a newer manual trans convertible, but I'm nervous about the reliability issue, and to be honest, reading through this board hasn't reassured me! I have a Nissan truck which, honest to God, went 116K miles without needing one single repair beyond general maintenance. So I've been spoiled. But a Saab convertible would fill every criterion, except I can't haul ladders like with my truck...I'm prepared for higher maintenance, just don't want a nightmare. Had a Porsche 944S in Colorado, but with constant repairs & the car's wimpiness on anything but dry roads, it didn't get driven much. I love driving & love fast cars, though.
The car would not be a daily driver, but I live in a part of the country where imports are practically non-existent (near Flint, MI.) So I know geed service & parts availability might be an issue. Should I look for a very low mileage pre '95 Saab? Spend a little more for a 9-3? Just keep a seperate credit card for Saab repairs? Go with my #2 choice, V-8 Mustang?
Feedback, please! I'm selling a house & setting aside mad money for a car before being sensible with the rest of the profit.
Thanks.
