If you have #6 heat range, that whitish look is what you would expect to see. So thats normal enough.
The DI has four oil filled coils in side of it. You can remove the DI from the harness and take the DI apart with the torx screws. There is not much to see. If you can tell that oil is leaking from a coil, time to get a new DI and keep in the trunk till the old one dies or starts to cause problems.
The bodies of the plugs are cold, like the cyliner head. Those deposits are normal and typical.
Do you know how old your DI is now. Many fail between 90 and 120 for higher milage vechicles, often sudden and total death. Older DI's in lower milage vehicles are showing up to cause starting and other types of intermittant problems.
We often suggest that one will be in your future sooner or later. So get on on your term, cheaper and keep it in the trunk, or wait, and get towed to the dealer and pay more for the DI, plus their time or minimun shop charge. If you are a long long way from a dealer.....
