I think that my 1995 Saab 900 SET has a problem with engine colant temperature sensor. I am experiencing the following symptoms. My engine temperature gauge doent register anything most of the time however from time to time I notice that it shows correct temperature reading and the change happens very rapidly (it looks like it regains signal that was missing before). I have changed my thermostat and that didnt help. For a while I was thinking that it could have been my instrument cluster having a bad contact somewhere until I noticed that my climate control system would react the same way as the temperature gauge (i.e. as soon as the gauge registers proper temperature the climate control systems starts blowing more hot air). Now this makes me think that either my colant temperaure sensor is bad or it is a bad contact. I also noticed that my fuel economy has beed kind of lower then usual and I was hoping that this is becuse of the ECU using more fuel for what it thinks is a cold engine. Can anone tell me if a bad coolant sensor would throw a CEL and where is that sensor(s) located if there is more then one?
