Unlocking the Gas Door

The battery on my '97 900 SET went out a few days back and I've been using a portable jump starter to get me started. (All my free time to take it to the mechanic have matched up with emergencies at the office I have to manage--my next appointment is Monday.)
I've gotten used to locking the doors with the key and listening to tapes on a Walkman, but now I've got a problem I can't get past: the door to the gas cap is locked and I'm near empty.
Is there a trick to getting it open--a by-pass switch or something?
