Replacing the door lock actuators is an easy job. It is not the easiest job, but it is a very easy job. The door panels are held in place by a series or screws some on the door handle itself, some "hidden" behind a cap in the door lever/handle and some under the curves of the bottom of the door, etc. Simply remove all the screws and snap the door panel out. The door actuator is in a very inconvenient place to work with. It is attached to the door with a couple of philips screws and glued to a piece of foam to reduce noise. The actuator connects to an electrical cable that snaps into the bottom of the actuator. Sometimes you need a screwdriver to snap it open it has two hinges to the electrical connector one on each side.
The actuator is a simple, yet sealed motor, that moves up and down. The actuator has a small hole into which the door lock "metal bar" snaps into. The entire process is very simple once you take a look at where the actuator is.
You can get the actuator for about 30-50 dollars out of a junk yard. I like the site called;
VolvoandSaabparts.com
They can be found when you search the web for Volvo and Saab dismantlers using the Google search engine.
I did this not long ago. It was really about 45 minutes worth of work because of the akward location to the actuator. The job is really simple, the location of the piece is somewhat of a paing in the butt. If you need additional information feel free to email me. I used the HAYNES manual as a reference.
