It's been well below freezing up here in the northeast and during this time the car has a little hesitation when starting. A little bit longer past the ON position before the car would turn-over. I attributed it to the battery being weak due to the cold weather. This was happeneing for about a week.
I was waiting for warmer temps before fussing with recharging or replacing the battery.
Yesterday I was driving along and finally the "+" battery warning light came on. I decided to try and drive it to a shop to get the battery checked and replaced.
Then the power steering goes out also. Still stubborn to drive it.
Then the ABS light. Almost there...
The "Check the Fan Belt" comes on the SID. Still has steam but I decided to turn around and go to a closer shop. I pull over and the car now has no power to the wheels. The engine is still on though. I stop by the side of the road and wait for a tow truck.
I was thinking I'll only need a jump. But I check under the hood and the belt was loose. I didn't check if it was broken though.
I get the car towed to a shop and they tell me that the belt tensioner was broken. $500+
I just has Saab change the motor mounts and other odds and ends but they didn't recognize my belt problem.
The car has 88000mi. Stick shift. 2.3L motor.
