Checked the oil- its not noticeably milky/frothy.
Checked the edges of HG area - nothing noticable there, except for what looks to be a buildup of crud on the lower right side (towards the battery)
Didn't have time to check other items, but it may not be a leaking head gasket afterall. I'll have my mechanic check it out (he hasn't looked at it yet), but I may be in the process of blowing the headgasket, if not already... and so my thinking is that I may as do the HG since the parts have already been ordered plus it'll give peace of mind, knowing the process will allow for items to be replaced, which may eventually go anyway.
These are the items which will be done:
Head gasket, planing head, valve cover seal, timing chain, guides, tensioners, (sprockets if necessary), balance chain, guides, tensioners, valve stem seals, oil pump seal, thermostat and gasket, and possibly water pump.
I wish I had the budget to make the mods SLAAB suggests.
So assuming I go ahead with the HG job, what else should I look for with everything out?
Thx.
