Hello everyone:
This will be the last e-mail update before the start of the
event tomorrow. Should any questions arise, I may be reached on my cell
phone at 717.215.4216 throughout the weekend. It looks like some of the
organizational issues that pop up have been resolved to eveyone's
satisfaction thus far, and Carlisle Productions has been extremely helpfu
this year. (Bringing 100+ cars helps get a little attention, too.)
We heard from Kevin Smith, Steve Janisse and Tiffany Cook yesterday,
and they have prepared a special package with some surprise give-ways that
will go to a few lucky attendees. These are so special in fact, that they
could only be shipped via James Uhl and the Sensonic equipped 900 delivery
rocket. You'll just have to wait until Saturday to find out what they are.
There are two special prizes that will be awarded to the first
person(s) who find(s) me on Saturday with the correct answer to 1 or both
of the following questions:
(1). We will be using channel 3/code 25 on the FRS/GMRS frequencies
for event and tour communications throughout the weekend. What
significance does the number 325 have to SAABs?
(2). On Saturday, we will be enjoying "polite conversation and
noodle salad". In a recent film, a SAAB was used by the characters for a
trip. On the trip, the line "polite conversation and noodle salad" was said
by one of the characters. The first person to tell me the name of the
movie, and the name of the Character (not the actor's name..that would be
far too easy) will also win a prize.
Bonus question on this one: There were 2 significant
differences on the SAAB from one scene to the next. Can you tell me
both of these differences?
Going into Saturday, we are tied with the Fiero Club with 98 confirmed
entries. I have also found that we have 1 additional confirmed entry not
accounted for by Carlisle, but I will handle that on Friday morning.
Additionally, we know of at least 12 additional cars that will be in
attendance, so we are in contention for a first place finish in the club
participation awards. If you are paying at the gate, please remember to
include CENTRAL PENN SAAB CLUB on your entry, as we are the host SAAB club,
and this helps put SAABs on the map at Carlisle. It will also mean that a
SAAB will be featured on the 2003 dash plaque, given to every entrant next
year! This is something that has never been done before, and something we
can all take great pride in accomplishing.
I have attached the driving instructions for the tour on Saturday, as we
will only have about 50 copies of the tour directions on hand. If you can
print out a copy and bring it along, that would help us out greatly. Also,
I've included another copy of the menu for Saturday night, and the list of
what to bring along. Bring an appetite, and plenty of film or batteries
(film or digital) for your camera. Rain is threatening for early Saturday
morning, but it shouldn't last all day. Regardless, it will be a great time
with lots of great people.
It has been alot of fun up to this point putting this all together, and
everyone has been great (of course, you all own SAABs, so what else could
you be but GREAT!) Please remember, the command post is leaving at 5:00
today, so your e-mail will go unanswered until Monday. Hopefully, these
e-mails have been helpful to you, and has provided useful information. We
wil be sending out an evaluation form after the event, to see if we can
improve anything to make the event even better next year. Once you receive
it, please complete and return to me.
