Reposted from Jim Miller's (Talladega900) e-mail:
Well, here I am in beautiful downtown Birmingham, NY getting ready for a day of marathon meetings, followed by a fun run of my own down I-81. In the Aero you HAVE to set the cruise. It's so damn quiet and smooth, you're doing 90, 95 and it feels like 75. Ticket city!
Okay, directions to Warrenton Safeway for Sunday's fun run.
1. Take I-66 West, beyond Manassas.
2. Take Rt 29 south at the Gainesville exit. Traffic here's a PITA, but be patient, it'll break loose. Watch for local police though. Don't push the speed too much through here.
3. 29 takes you right into Warrenton, however the bypass splits left and right. Take the right split.
4. After the split, the Safeway is at the second lighted intersection (corner of Rt. 17 and Business 29) to the right.
The roads I have planed are mostly back roads. 29-211 is the direct route to Cooters, but what fun is that? Plenty of twisties, 65 will be about the average speed. Any higher and you'll be in the weeds anyway. And as the saying goes, taking a 30 mph curve at 29.9 mph can be just as much of a
thrill.
After Cooters, those who want to stick around are invited to the homestead (it's on the way back to Warrenton from Cooters...)for refreshments and relaxation before the drive home...
See you all Sunday, and drive safe!
Jim.
