Good afternoon everyone:
Several good things to report today. I've attached the most
current participant listing with updates through yesterday. We have 44
pre-registered cars, with a few days remaining for pre-registration. The
better news is that I have had 16 contacts indicating the checks and forms
are enroute, which tentatively puts us at 60 pre-registered cars. I'll
report more on this as the forms arrive, but I think it is safe to say that
it's starting to get exciting.
We received word yesterday regarding Kelly Cadillac/SAAB and
their participation at Carlisle. They will be providing two prizes: The
black leather SAAB back pack and a gift certificate valued at $169.00 good
for a complete detailing/reconditioning of your favorite SAAB. They will
also be providing a display vehicle as well. If there are any other
vendors/dealers who would like to participate, please pass along the
information so that we can include them on our prize list.
Remembering last year that we only had 26 pre-registered by
the deadline, and still managing to bring out 47 cars by Carlisle's official count, we are really picking up momentum this year. (Our count was 53, but Carlisle didn't account for them because no club affiliation was listed on the pre-registration form). Hopefully we have fixed this problem for 2002, as we work to better our Fourth Place trophy finish last year. Our final count could be further enhanced by Tom Cox and his Stroker compadres who are rumored to each be bringing multiple cars if they can find enough drivers. More on this as it develops.
I have also been asked if membership in CPSC is a
requirement for attendance. Absolutely not, although it does make the CPSC
president smile whenever we do get new members. But really, it is not a
requirement, although we encourage participation with any of the local clubs who will be represented this year, including WASSAAB (Washington Area SAAB Club), New Jersey SAAB Club, New England SAAB Club. Also in attendance will be and SAAB Club of North America.
