Ny advice at this point would be to use a foam applicator instead of terry cloth and remove the residue with a microfiber towel instead of a terry cloth one. Depending on the weave of terry cloth, it can leave some marring when used. Foam and microfiber are much gentler than terry, leaving the polish as the most aggressive component.
It's kind of a process of elimination at this point so if you want to swap one item at a time, that would be fine. Test on small sections and evaluate results.
