My method of choice is carpet tape (a high stength double sided tape used to hold capet to the floor) AND Permatex Black RTV adhesive/sealant.
First clean the groove in the weatherstrip and the door jam with alcohol. Let the alcohol all evaporate for several minutes. Then cut and apply 1" pieces of carpet tape to the door jam every 8-12". Now apply a thin 1" long dap of RTV sealant/adhesive to the areas between the tape. Lastly remove the paper from the carpt tape, exposing the adhesive side, and press the weatherstrip into place.
The carpet tape will hold the weatherstrip in place while the RTV sealant/adhesive sets up to make a super strong bond.
