start with a double strength solution of "Oil-Eater" (WalMart, Checker Auto, etc) and a fake lambs wool washing mitt (toothbrush works for the really fine crevices) -- all that should be left is the baked on dirt/dust
to get the baked on material, use the Oil-Eater solution with a WHITE (nylon mesh fibers only -- no abrasives) scotch-brite pad -- a soft wooden stick (like a paint stirring ) helps work the pad on the really difficult spots..
polish and wax to minimize the effort for the next cleaning...
