There is enough cleaning action in AIO to use it as a light polish. I've used it by hand, PC, and rotary polisher with good results. Its a very versatile product.
The polishes by Mothers and Meguiars that come as part of their 3-step kits are fine to use as well. They're a lot like AIO in that they are primarily chemical cleaners with a little bit of light abrasive in them. They're designed to be used by hand but they'll work fine by PC too.
The hardship you will experience when detailing the minivan will totally convince your wife you NEED a PC. Its a manipulative ploy but very effective if properly executed. I'm sure you have the pads and everything already picked out. Strike when the iron is hottest. Good luck!
