Ok, so silicone can be a 'good' additive in waxes.... There are certainly places I will use silicone and places I will NOT use silicone.
I do not like silicone on the interior of my vehicle. I prefer non-silicone vinyl and lether care products. I find that the products with silicone attract more dust and leave a slick, hazy film behind that I just don't like.
The silicone containing vinyl dressings also cause more haze to build-up on the interior of the windshield, and make cleaning the interior of the windshield more difficult.
I love what silicone spray can do for the tires and the black rubber/plastic trim on the exterior of the car. I find Stoners 'More Shine Less Time' tire dressing very easy to use on tires and trim, and it gives long lasting results.
Silicone lubricant is great for the power antenna, espically Dupont silicone lubricant with Teflon.
Silicone vacuum hoses are wonderful under the hood, and be obtained in a wide range of pretty colors.
I never have had any real good luck with silicone rubber wiper blades, but the silicone rubber 'California Water Blade' is great for removing the majority of the water after washing the car.
I use Super-Lube synthetic grease that is compounded with silicone and Teflon in both the aerosol spray (for door hinges and latches) and in standard grease form (for sunroof and seat rails).
So choose where you wish to use silicone containing products, but don't worry that silicone is an evil thing. Just use some consideration before using silicone products, and you will do fine.
