water spots Posted by bobc [Email] (#473) [Profile/Gallery] (more from bobc) on Tue, 9 Jan 2007 12:10:02 Members do not see ads below this line. - Help Keep This Site Online - Signup |
I am no detailing expert, but would like to get better. so I have some dumb questions
so I am wondering what y'all do about preventing water spots. I have a midnight blue 9-5 Aero and it seems very susceptible to water spotting.
just to let you know where I am on the learning curve (from reading this excellent board) ...
- I use a boars hair brush to wash the car.
- I use zaino carwash
- I have about 2 coats of zaino (z-2 and z5) on already. I plan to add more as time and weather permit.
when I wash the car I get nice beading, but eventually those beads dry up and leave water spots.
I have a chamois, but I am not sure that I use it "correctly".
- do I wipe the car completely dry with it? it seems that once the chamois if wet (I ring it out during the process) it leaves streaks or very small beads of water.
- do I need to be concerned about fine scratching from wiping with the chamois?
- or maybe there something better besides a chamois to dry the car?
thanks!
