The inside liner peels back. There is some reinfocing cloth under the top at the bows. If you release the tension and put the top about 1/2 way down, you can get to the underside of the top fabric. So far the silicone is working fine. I did the repair in October and haven't been putting the to up and down stressing the repair, but I expect that it will hold. I used silicone to reglue the glass to the fabric about 5 years ago and its still holding great. BTW, use a new tube so the glue is fresh. You just need a small tube. Besides, if it doesn't hold, it will relatively easy to get off and use the other stuff.
