Car Covers - new to convertibles

I am back to Saab after a two year absence. Buying an '05 Aero Convertible. This car will be outdoors all year, in the North - figure 30 - 50 inches of snow a year.
So, being new to convertibles... what are opinions on car covers?
Are they easy to remove and store on a daily basis?
Do they cause any damage to the convertible top? (I need a waterproof version for the snow).
Any problems covering the car while it's wet? Imagine driving in rain or snow and putting on the cover in the driveway - there's no way to dry the car in-between.
thx
