My son has the SAAB go kart that was available in the early 80's. Yesterday the two of us rolled it on its side! After we cleaned up our wounds, we fixed up the kart. The body is a plastic material that has paint on it. We scratched it up in a few spots. Pep Boys sold a Dupli Color paint that was an exact match, so we sanded it smooth, filled in a couple small spots with bondo, wet sanded it with 320, and I painted it. It looks really good! You can hardly tell, but there is some overspay, and I'd like to blend in the area where the new paint meets the old paint a little better. My clay bar should take care of most of the overspray, but I was thinking of compounding it to even it out more. The Duplicolor paint says compound after 48 hours. I think it is a lacquer paint. It required no clear coat.
What kind of compound should I use? I have the Porter Cable Random Orbital to apply it with.
I'd post a picture, but I never get them to work on saabnet.
