The Viggen uses the HOT version of the engine, same as the 9-5 Aero, so I am fairly certain it has the Mitsubishi turbo rather than the Garret. The Mitsu is preferred by many but I logged over 300K miles on my first 9-5 equipped with a Garret turbo with no issues.
I am also a firm believer in 5W/40 oil rated for turbo diesel use in these engines......not to start an oil thread.
