polished aluminum intake

Well I took everyone advice and polished the aluminum intake with sandpaper from the local hardware store. I started with 150 grit and worked with 220, 340, 400 and 600. It amazing how much of a differance the intake now looks and it took about two hours for each part of the aluminum intake.
What I would suggest in terms of doing this is to fill up a large sink with water and then sand the part in the water or above the water. Using this method allowed for most of the gray dust to fall into the water and come off easily my hands.
The next part that I would like to do is the header but do not know if this would be wasting my time. I would like a chrome like look but do not know what is the best way of achieving it, on this part do to the extreme temps that it will have, any advice on this project?
