9-5 sales Posted by Paul [Email] (#792) [Profile/Gallery] (more from Paul) on Tue, 3 Jun 2003 21:13:22 In Reply to: Not so sure (long), VP, Tue, 3 Jun 2003 17:28:41 Members do not see ads below this line. - Help Keep This Site Online - Signup |
VP said "Cannibalizing sales from the 9-5 may be true, but do you have any evidence to support that or is that just a guess? My guess is that may be a natural occurance since the 9-5 is dated and due for a re-design in 2005. Having said that, my wife just bought a 9-5 in March. Liked it better than the 9-3 - said it was more distinctive, more unique, didn't feel as cheap, BIGGER etc."
If Saab sold 4702 cars in the USA in May and only 2288 of these cars were 9-3SS that leaves 2412 sales of the 9-3 convertible and 9-5 combined. Bearing in mind the 9-3 convertible takes appox 1/4 of all Saab sales ie 1175 if May were an average month then there were about 1300 9-5 cars sold. I dont know how many 9-5s were sold last May but 1300 doesnt seem too bad.
I am seeing a lot more Saab cars here in Vancouver and a lot of them are new 9-5s and a few 9-3SS. The new 9-3SS is stunning to look at when you compare it to the A4 but for every 9-3SS I see I have seen 20 A4s.
