Ive been working on replacing the inner drivers, and clutch master/slave cylinders. This morning I finally got the drivers side spindle/caliper out and on the garage floor. Well when I was examining the assembly, with it lying on the ground, it hit the floor and a tiny droplet shot out of the caliper brake fluid tube, and shot up vertical about 3 feet and hit me in the right eye.

I immediately ran into the kitchen sink and used the spray thing to get the fluid out. My whole vision in my right eye just turned into a complete white blur. It didn't sting or hurt, it just blurred up my vision. It really scared me, I was swearing that Id never work on a car again and I was praying that I actually did have any permanent damage. My mom sprayed my eye for about 30 minutes while my sister called poison control, who said to keep flushing it.

We decided to call 911 because I could not see and we didn't know what we were dealing with. A firetruck go there first, and the firefighters came in the kitchen and helped flush out the eye some more. Then the ambulance got here about 5 minutes later and I sat inside and answered some questions for about 5 minutes, and we then drove to the hospital.

At the hospital they used this device, kind of like a contact lens but with a tube attached to it (and an IV on the other end) and flushed my eye with an entire IV bag. Took about 30 minutes. The doc also looked at my eye with what looked like a blacklight (after putting some special chemiscal in) and he could see a burn mark in the corner of my eye where the brake fluid droplet hit. I'm going to see an eye doctor in the morning, but basiaclly I can see perfectly right now. They gave me some antibiotics to help with the burn.

Just wanted to get this out of my system. Lesson- wear goggles religiously.
