Don't have kids of my own, but from my own and family experience I can tell you this: spend as much time as possible driving with your daughter. Practice, practice, practice, in as many different situations as possible. That is what my parents did, and I think I benefited greatly from the experience. They also set high standards: signalling turns and lane discipline aren't just something you learn "to pass the test".
Talked to my wife about it, and was kinda shocked to learn this is not how it's always done - her parents wouldn't let her set foot in any of their cars until she had license in hand! The only experience she had before she was able to drive on her own was the few hours she got from the high-school driver's ed. program. Not surprising that the first time it snowed she was (quite unintentionally) doing 180's in the middle of the highway...
