This is just my opinion, but you don't need studded tires. Studless, ala Blizzak and Arctic Alpine, tyres are way more advanced than even 5 years ago. I do not have any problems running on 205/55/16 Blizzaks and can't say enough about them. If you head over the E-tunnel daily, then you might need chains. However, only level 2 chain law requires chains, and even then not enforced. Besides, you don't need to be on the road when its that nasty out anyway. (maybe 20 days/yr at the tunnel) If you are a safe driver your biggest concern will be some moron in an SUV that "grew-up" in CO and naturally must be a better driver in the snow, WRONG!! These folks will pose more of a risk to your health than studded vs studless. My 2 cents, go with a great set of studless and you'll be safe and comfortable.
