My condolences!

That's the problem with parking at train stations, movie theaters, malls, etc--the thieves know you'll be gone for a long time. Sucks how many of the train stations on Long Island are in bad neighborhoods!

Oldsmobiles were at the top of the "most stolen car" list for a long time, and unfortunately a SAAB SPG is very easy to steal also. But at least most thieves are unfamiliar with SAABs and so they are usually left alone. Nonetheless, tell your brother to get a clutch/brake pedal lock, and a good alarm, pronto!

I'm not sure if the 9-3 uses an ignition key immobilizer chip, but the 9-5 does, those certainly help... if your mom has bi-xenon lamps on her 9-5 tell her to park it nose-in, as close as possible to a wall, when in public places. Unfortunately, bi-xenon lamp theft on Long Island is on the rise. But usually the bi-xenon thieves target Acuras and Maximas.

Lastly, be sure to get McGard heel locks for all your cars!

I never thought it would happen to me, but the STOCK rims on my old Accord were stolen! Sucks to find your car up on blocks. Ever since then I've always used wheel locks.

You can get them at The Tire Rack, McGard model #27179, $27.95 plus shipping (~$8). 1-888-541-1777. Those fit the 9-3 and 9-5, not sure about the SPG.
