you were quite convincing in arguing against the safety of those back seats. I got a Mercedes anyway and love it, but the seats are not much good for any but kids under 13. They are MUCH better than the seats in a Volvo, and there is MUCH more room than in in Audi Avant A6. We also looked at a new Taurus and even my wife thought it sucked big time as a driving experience compared to a 1994 Mercedes E320. I would at least argue that safety is more than what happens in a rear end collision (think rollover, stopping distance, road handling as all important safety features) but it is hard to make a case for those suicide seats being as safe as any other.
