i lived in port angeles for 2 years, moved from connecticut, and had my first experience with how crazy it can really be in the northwest when it snows. i would almost argue that snows are more needed there then here in the northeast. sure they plowed the roads in port angeles, but never right away and it took a good few hours before they ever got caught up. plus, they were only adding dirt to the roads so there were times when the roads were plowed but no pavement showing for a couple days. quite the interesting experience driving home from work one day down 1st street and seeing cars and suv's come sliding out into the road from the cross streets because they could not stop in time...:) almost like a computer game to get home...:)
