I've had Ontario Hydro / ESA inspect my panels Posted by Randy Thatcher [Email] (#22) [Profile/Gallery] (more from Randy Thatcher) on Tue, 16 Dec 2003 07:40:58 In Reply to: WOT: any other Electrical Safety/Compliance Engineers?, KR900, Mon, 15 Dec 2003 16:02:22 Members do not see ads below this line. - Help Keep This Site Online - Signup |
I'm in industrial controls/automation, and sometimes my control panels have to go through inspections. But the only thing we do is verify they follow the local code (our panels ship globally), the customer specifications, and our ISO procedures. Luckily I'm more on the project management and software side of the business as the hardware stuff isn't my expertise. People in the elecrical inspection role have to know a LOT about the details!
Actually, in a former job, I always had to look out for code violations in power distribution lines. I worked for the lcoal power company in Cleveland, and the city had a municipal power system, too. Cleveland is one of the few cities with power lines running down both sides of the street! One of my jobs when I was out in the field was to spot the other companies violations and report it. Usually that amounted to clearance issues.
