my thoughts on color and shape

Different colors bring out different aspects of the shape of a car. To me, cars with bold styling look best in darker colors, while more understated styling needs a more metallic color (such as silver or steel gray) to bring out the subtleties. Within Saabs, for example, I love the blue on the Viggen, and I like it in yellow as well. The spoiler and lower body stuff speak for themselves. On my base 9-3, though, the car looks too round--like an egg or jellybean--in some colors. The silver color brings out the subtle crease lines on the doors, fenders, and hood that you don't really notice on a Viggen. White usually mutes the details of the styling, which is why I like it better on the square-edged C900 than on the relatively bland NG900/9-3. It doesn't look good on some cars where blue or yellow does, though, and I'm not sure why.
For me, most Saabs and most Mercedes should be silver. I also like the Impreza in silver (but not the Legacy or Forester), so I guess I'll like the 9-2X in silver as well. Most other cars should not be silver. I was looking at a Mazda Protege5 when I bought my Saab, and I wanted that in yellow or blue.
Beyond all that stuff, color is a reflection of what you want to show the world about yourself. Silver and gray are conservative colors. White is rental-car boring. Yellow and red mean you are willing (or hoping) to be noticed. Black, to me, has a connotation of "I'm special and I want to be incognito"...kinda conservative, but trying too hard to be conservative. Blue and green are conservative but willing to be different...we should see more Saabs in blue and green by my logic, I guess.
Remember...the above are only my opinions!
