IMHO, the major effect of this short move each morning will be to the exhaust system. Short drives, where the exhaust system doesn't get hot enough to evaporate off the water vapor in the exhaust, will rot out the muffler(s) prematurely.
My family also has a car that only does short ~4 mile trips each day, and the muffler needs replacement every 3 years or so. Yet my commuter car that does 40 miles every day hasn't needed a muffler yet in 5 years, and shows little sign of wear.
