Make sure that your wireless router is set for auto DHCP. If you click on the wireless network card UTILITIES icon, you should find in there something mentioning your IP address. It is likely to be something like 192.168.1.XXX, where XXX is somewhere between 2 to 254. If you don't see an IP address, then you are not connected to the wireless network.

IF YOU SEE AN IP ADDRESS within the 192.168.XXX.XXX range -> type in the IE explorer bar the IP loging address of your wireless router from either of your laptops. Look up the address in the manual! It is likely to be 192.168.1.1 or.... Anyhow, look it up. I ain't here to teach you how to hack into systems, but I am having to give you some info to solve the problem... Once you are into the router setup screen (after typing in loging name and password), RESET the router to the default!!! Then check that DHCP is set to AUTO. Now change your router password and login name. And write it down somewhere where you can find it. You have been warned... Hackers use the default router settings to hack into networks, because many inexperienced users are too scared to make changes, let alone change their password etc. If you can't log on, switch OFF the network card security settings for the purpose of getting the thing working. You can set the security up again later.
IF YOU DON'T SEE AN IP ADDRESS, or sees one outside the range YOUR ROUTER instructions say that are allocated to wireless connections. So if it ain't 192.168.1.xxxx you need to to change that.
Go to your LAN settings via for instance the "internet options" in the TOOLS menu in IE, and select the "automatic detect settings" tick box. Now come out of there and shut down your PC. Reboot your, in order of appearance, modem, router, PC.

If I missed anything or you want to ask some more, e-mail me form your work PC if need be.
