Crazy? I guess. But if you don't have to go to work, you can do the silly things that you otherwise just wonder about. I got 34 MPGs at 60mph driving North against a firm NE headwind. Need more data...
So the end of the ground electrode... the radius of the center electrode is projected onto the end of the ground electrode, so that the ground electrode is rounded off to match 180 degrees of the electrode diameter. The the outboard edges are rounded off a bit. Don't forget to debur the ground electrode at the gap and to clean the plug to remove grinding residue. When clearing the burrs with the cutoff wheel in the gap, the ground electrode will end up with square sharp edges over that 180 degrees. This level of sharpness will exceed that of a new plug! Some of that will erode and round off over time as expected.
When you are done and compare a modified plug to one that is still stock, the visual impression of the exposure of the spark gap is quite impressive.
