Thanks-great advice, and it was actually repaired at my regular mechanic (in California--and I'm sure other states, worth checking--you are technically allowed to request a mechanic...within reason)--which is an indy that I trust very much...so I certainly think it was repaired properly, but want to verify somehow for piece of mind. I suppose I could take it to another Saab shop, but I trust the one that repaired it the most of the handful I've been to in the area.
And, oddly the only bodywork damage was the side rear view mirror and a fender liner, the rest was mechanical...another reason I was able to use my preferred mechanic and not have to take it to a body shop.
And there is a warranty from the shop...and in the case of accidnets like this where the car was rendered undriveable, the California department of insurance allows for me to take the car back to be repaired properly again as necessary, with no additional charge to me. So I don't have to worry about $ per se, but time and hassle if further repair is necessary.
