It's definitely true with motorcycles. Too much power can produce wheelies and get the rear tire loose. A Miata is a good example for cars and we're talking 100hp less than a 330 and 200hp less than an M3 with a Miata. It's another thing being underpowered, but even a 325 is a hot rod. An M3 has a ridiculous amount of horsepower.
