and they've started installing Express EZPass on the GSP which makes things incredibly faster (if there are no idiots from NY trying to go through them at 5 MPH, that is).
Most of the time I've seen radar used on the GSP it's the kind that they flash on once they already see you - in other words they don't sit there with their radar on just waiting to be recognized by people with detectors.
The one area to watch out for is Southbound just after the PNC Bank Arts Center (maybe 1 or 2 miles). 9 times out of 10 there will be a cop sitting in a spot in the middle. It's really hard to see them and the roadway is going downhill, so they're always picking people up there. I've seen them pull people over in the local and express lanes from the center section there.
You won't be able to go fast enough to need a good detector north of the Raritan tolls, and south of them if you keep it around 75-80 or so you'll be fine if you can even get to those speeds.
One of our locations is off of Exit 91, and I used to drive down there daily from North Jersey (the meadowlands area). Not a bad trip but I'd take the TurnPike down to the Parkway and avoid the Raritan - Newark stretch.
