Hybrids don't do much better than a gas engine above 40 MPH since the battery can't provide long term power. Hybrid batteries are limited to using about 8% of battery capacity for maximum battery life. Batteries depend on the cells remaining in balance to function properly, 100+ cells is a lot to keep in balance for any length of time.
