Stand over height means nothing, that is the old way of sizing. The most important is the effective length of the top tube. There is no way to tell you what you need by just your height. Arm length, torso length and leg length all play a part. As well as your riding style and preference. If you prefer a more stretched out ride search out a longer top tube, like a Gary Fisher, if you prefer a more upright riding posiion search out a shorter top tube, like a Rocky Mountain. You can always adjust fit with the seat post, seat position, stem and handlebar. But keep in mind that those adjustments also affect the handeling of the bike. The key is to test ride and find out what feels the best. But make sure you do not end up buying a bike that is too big just to get a longer top tube, when you could choose a bike brand that has a longer top tube to start with. The more stand over the better. Also keep in mind if you are looking at full suspension designs, that you will loose stand over height with the more travel you get. It is not uncommen to have little or no stand over on a F.S. bike even though it is the correct size. The Bottom bracket height needs to go up with the addition of travel to allow for clearence when the suspension compresses.
