I can understand your reasoning to a certain extent. It must be noted, however, that the original "repairs" were performed in Chicago, Illinois. The car is now located in Nashville, Tennessee. No one in their right mind (in my situation, anyway) would drive the car 8 hours to a shop that couldn't do the job correctly in the first place.
I would have contacted the first shop prior to repairs, but there are two factors that play key roles in my decision not to. First of all, the repairs must be done, so their response was irrelevant in that regard. Secondly, I wasn't at all aware that their work was faulty when I took the car in to the second shop. Only after I received the receipt and talked to the mechanic did it become evident that the first shop was not as trust-worthy as we had all hoped.
As I have said before, I'm definitely not holding my breath, but it's worth asking. They probably should take caution in how they respond, however, as they may be jeopardizing future business. I really don't care if they say yes or no, so long as they are professional and don't give me the cold shoulder. We'll just have to wait and see, though. Thanks for the feedback. Drive safely, and KEEP ON SAABING!!!
