If I'm not mistaken, dealers have put themselves into a bit of a pickle by charging doc fees. I've had a few dealer friends tell me that if they charge one person a doc fee and don't charge another person, they open themselves to possible legal action. Dunno if that's actually played out with some dealers but it makes sense to me.... sorta.
Anyway, I've learned to not even care what the little fees are. Charge me a $10,000 Doc Fee if ya want. I don't care. All I'm interested in is the drive out amount.... Over The Curb. If the dealer wants to charge me $10,000 for a Doc Fee and my OTC price is $30,000, I guess they're selling me the car for $20,000. Simple math AFAIC.
Now,forging signatures and redoing contracts after I've signed, then it becomes Attorney Time. I really don't even want to talk to a dealer unless we're all in front of a judge. A free car + paid legal fees sound pretty good to me.
