I have a CPO 03’ Aero SW that I bought at about 6200 miles in January. I haggled as much as possible and got fed up with the lousy salesperson. I was lied to about the in-service date by about 6 months. A sales manager gave a concession to make up for this error. I felt I paid a bit too much but my family pushed the sale because it was what we wanted and less than a new one.
I went for my 10K service at about 11.5K. I said rotate the tires and use my own oil. The service writer put a note about the oil and said the rotation is included and is always done at the 10K service. [Turns out Saab does not cover rotation. A good dealer should rotate anyway, free of charge. Maybe I am spoiled by my long-term indy.] Well they didn’t use my oil or rotate the tires. I complained and got a free future oil change and rotation. This prompted me to inspect the tires more closely. The front tires had obviously never been rotated and were near the wear bars. Now at 14.8K they are at the wear bars, mostly even wear, but not perfect. I have complained to Saab and the dealership, including the sales and service managers. I am awaiting a final decision tomorrow. Pirelli will cover the tires at a prorated rate if they are below 3/32” and under 20K. However, I feel that I should get front tires complimentary as they were not rotated and/or properly inspected at the CPO inspection. 5 months / 8K is unacceptable wear, especially considering the dealers neglect.
I believe the CPO program requires 60% tread remaining. Are the dealers supposed to document the tread remaining? Also, if more than the required amount remained, shouldn’t the tires have been rotated during the CPO inspection?
Any opinions on how to proceed if the dealer is uncooperative? I will ask for the factory representative’s name and number (good reference anyway).
I will follow-up. I may name dealership as I am getting pretty annoyed, especially since they made me drive there to show them the tires and then just forwarded me to Pirelli. What ever happened to the customer is always right?
