There's a semi formal timed competition towards the end of the event. It involves a timed drag race that finishes up weaving through the cones.
Here's some advice for a quick time. "Stage" as far back as the starter will allow. Your time doesn't start until you break the beam so stay back as far as you can in the starting box so to speak. If the starter waves you forward just inch up as little as you can. Do power brake. You won't hurt anything by having your gas foot flat on the floor and hold the car with the brakes. There's no reaction time involved, your time doesn't start until you break the first timing beam so make sure you're all together and ready for launch. Determine which side of the first cone you're gonna' go around and "stage" or start as far to that side of sthe starting box as you can. Practice good hand position on the steering wheel. You might have to grip at the 8 and 4 position to be able to steer the cones with out crossing over with your hands so that you have enough steering range.
