Request a hearing. See if you can get it reduced. Or maybe the cop won't show.
But if you have a history of tickets you may be in deep weeds. (Been there, done that, have the t-shirts, lost the license!). Cop a plea--see if they can give you some kind of probation if you promise to slow down. Prove you need to drive to get to work or something.
Speeding in the town you live in can be hard to beat. There aren't a whole lot of excuses you can pull out! My town is real aggressive about speeders and has no problem ticketing residents. Plus it's not all that big, so chances are the cop may "know" you. I actually use cruise control in town to keep from going over the limit. Found some other guys do the same.
