Actually Saab Aerospace (different company) has sold its JAS-39 Gripen to South Africa, Hungary, and Czech Republic. Previous Saab aircraft (Draken) were used by Austria, Denmark, and Finland. This is in addition to Sweden. Today's weapon systems are too expensive to not develop an export market for companies in places like Sweden which could not support a defense industry. The US has a difficult time as large as we are. Saab Automobiles is a completely different company, now, being completely owned by General Motors. Sweden still maintains its neutral policy, and is a contributor to UN peace keeping duties in such places as Korea
