It is important to always seek outside advice when your health is of concern. Look at credentials and gather as much information as possible.
As a Phd, I will tell you that a lot of science, especially the stuff that comes out of big pharmaceutical companies, should always be second guessed. Hidden agendas you say??? The big companies are interested in profits and are competing with other companies all the time.
Where are the true hidden agendas?
Keep this in mind always!!
In response to the previous post regarding what can be found on the internet:
The Wise Traditions website is based on sound scientific research that combines modern science with the knowledged gained from societies around the globe that are known to live healthy lives without the modern curse of chronic illness.
At the end of the article, note the references and where the information/data in the article are taken from.
Also note that there are a number of studies in the article that are mentioned and critiqued fairly.
THere is much to be learned from the history of how people lived in traditional societies. The diseases that are rampant today are a result of the modernities around us, which are mostly food related. Generations back, people's health were unimaginably more healthy than we are today; they didn't see doctors and lived to old ages.
Bottom line: don't limit yourself and your health to a single scientists' understanding of what is right. Get out there and learn for yourself!!
THere is a lot of literature on this very topic.
Look through your local library or go to amazon.com and look for the books. Both sides are all out there.
